A
glimpse into Denise's life:
Denise lives in the great Southwest, where it’s a ‘dry
heat’. Oftentimes, it’s the place otherwise known as Hell,
but Hell may be cooler. She’s lived in various parts of
Arizona, California, New York, Nevada, Ohio, Massachusetts
and even brief stints in Texas, Hawaii, and Louisiana.
Currently single, she lives with her diva Shih Tzu. Or is
that, a Shih Tzu named Diva?
By day, she’s a case management nurse, working from her
home. It pays the bills and feeds her book and shoe
addictions. By night, Denise is a voracious bibliophile,
book reviewer and writer. She reviews for an online site as
well as a review magazine, all under a pen name. She’s
always loved to write as well, but instead of simply
dabbling in short stories that she’d create for friends and
family, she’s decided to bite the bullet, complete a full
novel and submit for publication and all the insanity that
goes with that. Tune in to her blog for periodic updates.
Before reviewing and writing, when she actually had free
time, she read voraciously. (Now she just has a vicious TBR
pile that multiplies before her eyes.) She doesn’t prefer
to limit herself to just one genre and reads everything
from Thrillers to Erotic Romances and everything in
between. Mysteries, Romances, the backs of cereal boxes.
She is picky about what she enjoys even though it spans
multiple genres. A good book must capture her attention,
and keep it, with riveting conflict, a plot that moves and
magnetic characters who actually grow during the story.
When she doesn’t have her nose in a book, or her fingers on
a computer keyboard, she also enjoys cooking and attempting
new recipes often. She must do a good job because friends
and family are her returning guinea pigs. Or maybe they’re
just pigs. ; - )
What else does Denise love? Music. Oh yes. Having grown up
with music in her life, again she can’t be pinned down to
one genre. That’d be too boring. She listens to everything.
DuranDuran (have you heard their new stuff?), Nickelback,
Sting, The Alarm, Bryan Ferry, Boney James, Chicane (you
have to listen to them!), Brian McKnight, Enigma, Loreena
McKennitt, Matchbox Twenty, Dana Glover, Chris Daughtry and
who could forget Joss Stone? You can find her relaxing to
Gregorian Chant or the LOTR soundtrack, with the lights
down low and incense in the burner.
Movies are another love: Aventures, old Epics, Audrey
Hepburn movies (Sabrina, Roman Holiday, Funny Face), The
Thomas Crown Affair, the Matrix trilogy, Pitch Black and
who wouldn’t be enthralled by a good Disaster movie? These
aren’t movies, but she’s started up yoga and Tae Bo DVDs
again. Don’t mess with her, she’ll come out relaxed AND
kicking!
Movies are one thing, TV is another. She’s not big on
television and of course, even less so because of the
writer’s strike. However, she’s been keeping up with House,
Private Practice and Grey’s Anatomy. And she’s absolutely
hooked on Moonlight. Her only true addiction this season.
